What kind of birth control should I get?

Hi, so I’ve had birth control before, I used the pill. I tried 8 different pills and all of them I had major symptoms, so I could no longer take them. My symptoms were things like nausea, vomiting, mood swings, headaches, and vaginal yeast infections. It was awful, no matter what pill I tried there were just too many symptoms. My doctor told me to think about trying other forms of BC so now I’m with these options.

I would never recommend depo. It’s taking such a negative effect on my body, just like many other women on this app. Weight gain, depression, the migraines. It’s terrible and would not recommend to ANYONE

You have to find the one that best for you! Because I hear a lot of negative things on the depo but it’s the one that worked best for me, I didn’t gain weight if anything I went from being 160 to 135, so I lost weight. No bad side effects or anything. Just find what’s best for your body cause everyone is different.

Depo waaaaaay too many negative side effects. I became a potato, literally. Always have been 130 pounds, went to 180, in six months to a year. Year after I stopped getting it I had finally lost 10 pounds.. still dealing with the depression of how drastic my body changed so quick. IUD, Mirena 5 years. Helps if you have had kids before because it’s placed in the uterus so can stress out your cervix and uterus getting it put in by a doctor. I had two kids, had it for six years.. took me forever to make an appointment to get it removed. It worked like a charm. The hormones go directly into the uterus and I hardly had any negative side effects. When they first put it in I bled for along time, it was two months straight, after that no periods. It was weird at first being able to feel the wires however after the first year you hardly notice them. Getting it put in is tricky, make sure to have ibuprofen for cramps and a heating pad, it does hurt as they have to go past the cervix to place it and you bleed shortly after. Honestly everyone reacts different to BC, I honestly tried everything I could before I found what works on my body. Which was pretty much the Mirena and Condoms.

I just got the liletta iud put in today, and I’m hoping my body responds well to it. I personally wouldn’t get the depo, my sister is unable to get pregnant after being on it for a year. the implant is known to move out of place and travel, so I wouldn’t recommend it. I think you’d be best sticking with condoms if they work for you, or researching the different types of iuds and see if any of them would be a good fit. good luck!
