Are you getting a flu shot while pregnant?

I'm just asking to see who's getting a flu shot while pregnant and mainly to decide if I want it or absolutely need it. I've never had it and people I know who have, got the flu while I've never had the flu either. I go to college and they give them free to students. Is it really as necessary as some make it to be to get while pregnant?

First let's clear up a common misconception: the flu shot does NOT cause you to get the flu. Those who got it after the shot were probably exposed before the shot, or had a cold not flu.

That being said, I get it every year & it has helped me stay well when others around me at work fell ill. Your immune system is more vulnerable when pregnant so I will absolutely get it this yr.

It depends on who you talk to but many doctors and even companies who make the flu shot recommend waiting until about 14 weeks along and if ttc wait because you don't want to add anything extra into your system... I will not be getting simply for those reasons and it is only about 40% effective in a healthy young adult.
