Do you think it's ok for your SO to have a best friend of the opposite sex?

My BF thinks since I have him I don't need to talk to another guy. Cause he suppose to be my best friend.

All my life, I had guy best friends. And it caused havoc in my relationships.

Now, my hubby is my best friend. We hate other people. I have him and my bestie who is female. And that's it. No new friends! Lol

My husband and I have had this convo many times. He didn't think there was an issue, but I did because of who these females were. (An ex or 2 of his that were now his "friends") I told him that he shouldn't get himself into situations that could complicate our relationship.  I like to see the best in people but, when it comes to my marriage, I'm very protective. I guess it all depends on you/your SO.

I think I ment yes. I actually made a best friend at my work. He was then we an off n on gf. If it's genuine friendship, and u genuinely love ur SO then I think it can happen. My work friend and I had similar personalities and outlooks and we had great conversatioms, prly better then w my husband. But work guy felt like a complete friend/brother feel. I'd it's hard to explain. It never once got anywhere near sexual so maybe that's why we became fast and long friends. He eventually got his gf knocked up n I married n they married, and we all had a game night. I am very thankful and proud of my husband for not once questioning my fedelity out of insecurity or from my actions or conversations with my guy friend.

Probably not, but each situation is different!  I will say this though....Before we got married, my (now) husband's male best friend was also my male best friend & we hung out all the time because my SO was always gone for work. I would ALWAYS tell my SO what we were doing & where we were though & he would still get a little jealous!! But I think the jealousy was more from the fact that his friend got to see me & he didn't because he was always away for work. We have all been friends for about 8 years. Ultimately, it didn't bother my SO too much because he trusted me and trusted his best friend.  I wouldn't have hung out with the friend if he hadn't been my SO's best friend (who I met through my SO) And I wouldn't have wanted my SO to hang out with another girl unless it was my best friend (who he knows-she's how we met!)

I have a guy bf that is not my husband. However he also has his own SO and I don't discuss anything that I wouldn't discuss with my husband.  He is and should be your ultimate best friend and confidant.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if they didn't have any sort of a relationship before, even just fwb to me should lose contact when in a serious relationship. To me it'd just be a back-burner relationship, a go to when things get tough.

Yes, some of my best friends are male, some of his are female.

He'd trust me with my friends alone, I trust him with his.

If you have trust in your significant other then i don't see why you wouldn't be okay with it.
